The Birth Story of Alice Known Girl EDD – 19th June 2023 Birthday – 12th June 2023, 12.49pm Weight – 8lb 4oz Planned – home water birth Actual – labour ward land birth following induction My first daughter was born spontaneously at 37 weeks and 1 day, 18 hours after waters breaking and only 11 hours after first contraction. It was a long and hot pregnancy, pretty sure the hottest summer we’ve had on record- in my lifetime any way. I was 40+ weeks pregnant, pelvic girdle pain throughout, feeling massive and feeling hot. 40+6 pregnant and my contractions started mid afternoon driving over to a friends house. Being a midwife I knew id be in safe hands with her but decided to head home to make sure Ridley (our eldest son of 2) could be looked after and arrangements made for George to finish work.

It is always so special to hear it from the birth partners and I am thrilled to have received this birth story from Ian. He was absolutely incredible during his wife’s birth. I love how he had Jacqui’s back and worked with the midwives to give her more time and comfort. I love how he thinks to keep the room tidy so not to stress out Jacqui.
